BonBons and hats

I lived in the Caribbean for almost 8 years, and there was pretty much endless sun, sand, ocean.  When you live on an island, there is a lot of ocean.  And I loved it, but as a crocheter, it can be challenging to find projects that are fun to work on when it’s 90 degrees out.  Doilies are always good, and don’t get me wrong, I love a good doily pattern, but lets save that for another post.  Now that I’m up north, my crochet to do list has gotten infinitely bigger.  Oh my, the afghans, sweaters, hats, scarfs, the possibilities are endless!  Alas, I only have so much time to devote to my crochet, after all, there are only 24 hours in a day!

Hats can be very quick and fun projects to do and with Lionbrand Bonbon yarns you get a lot of color in a package.

Plus, there are sparkles!!  How cool is that??

This is a Lionbrand pattern, designed for Bonbons.  The band is cute little granny squares and than the hat is worked in a shell pattern.  Adorable!  This definitely worked up quickly.  My only quibble would be the finishing, with 11 rows of shells and 6 mini granny squares, there were a seemingly endless number of ends to weave in.  You think you are finished and another one seems to pop out!  I think I got them all.

This is not really a warm hat, more of a cute pop of color when one is having a not so great hair day.  I love it and am even thinking of doing a scarf to match!
